0.1 N Naoh (sodium hydroxide) preparation



To prepare 0.1 N NaOH solution, you can follow these steps:

Determine the molar mass of NaOH, which is 40 g/mol (sodium: 23 g/mol, oxygen: 16 g/mol, hydrogen: 1 g/mol).


Calculate the amount of NaOH needed to make 1 liter of 0.1 N solution using the formula:

amount of NaOH (in grams) = molarity x volume (in liters) x molar mass

Here, molarity = 0.1 N, volume = 1 liter, and molar mass = 40 g/mol. Therefore,

amount of NaOH = 0.1 x 1 x 40 = 4 grams


1. Weigh out 4 grams of NaOH using a balance.
